Dive into the wild essence of Kogi Coffee, where untamed flavors meet authentic tradition. Handpicked by indigenous hands that have nurtured the land for generations, it's a testament to the harmony between humankind and the earth. At The Younger Brothers, we embody a profound commitment to honor the legacy of the Elder Brothers—the Kogi and Arhuaco indigenous communities of Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. We strive to restore harmony by sharing the untamed beauty of their land and culture with the world, rooted in fair trade partnerships that uplift communities and sustain their pristine environment.
The Kogi tribe has existed since the Pre-Columbian era, and their culture is a true reflection of our past. The Elder Brothers, as they call themselves, have been isolated from the rest of the world while living in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta—a large area of land that covers almost every imaginable ecosystem on the planet. Coffee is believed to have the power to share the Kogi message of preservation of the Earth with us, the Younger Brothers. With deep respect for their ancient practices, we now offer their coffee to the world to support their mission of caring for Mother Earth.
The Younger Brothers has sourced your coffee directly from the family of Vangelio Sauna of the Kogi indigenous community, located in the sacred mountains of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia. Coffee and agroforestry production in the Kogi community is based on the fundamental belief system stewarded by the "Hermanos Mayores" ("Elder Brothers"), mandated by their spiritual elders, the "Mamos." The Kogi coffee practices focus on the conservation and restoration of nature, the fundamental principles of their "Law of Origin" or "Law of Knowing."
The Younger Brothers Trading Company's mission-driven philosophy sources authentic indigenous products from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountains, starting with conservation projects and a decade-long friendship with 'el Cabildo Santos' and the Kogi 'Mamos,' who have given this coffee their sacred blessing. The coffee you're about to savor is not only organic and free from pesticides and genetically modified beans, but it's also meticulously hand-picked at the precise moment when each cherry reaches its peak ripeness.
The Younger Brothers Kogi coffee is as organic as naturally possible, grown in the wild, blessed by the Mamos, and harvested in the tradition of the Kogi people. It is not certified organic due to the Kogi's cultural and technical reasons, but it is undoubtedly one of the most organic coffees on Earth. Respect the ancient traditions and share in the preservation of our Mother Earth with these wild coffee beans, directly sourced from the indigenous families of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
