Tiny Footprint Coffee, the world's first carbon negative coffee, is the result of a unique collaboration between Roastery 7, an artisan coffee roastery, and the Mindo Cloudforest Foundation, a nonprofit conservation organization. Together, they have created the ultimate combination of good karma.

The carbon negative nature of Tiny Footprint Coffee is achieved through a simple yet effective process. It takes 4 lbs. of CO2 to produce and distribute 1 lb. of their coffee. However, for every pound sold, a portion of the proceeds is donated to fund reforestation efforts in Ecuador's Mindo cloud forest. Over time, these trees will remove 54 lbs. of CO2 from the atmosphere, resulting in more CO2 being removed than emitted.

Tiny Footprint Coffee's reforestation efforts in the Northwestern Andes of Ecuador focus on planting native tree species throughout the Mindo Cloud Forest region, which has been heavily deforested. These trees not only sequester massive amounts of carbon from the air, but also provide habitat for hundreds of local bird species, reinforce soil conservation techniques, and rebuild water tables. The Mindo Cloudforest Foundation works directly with local landowners to provide jobs related to the care and redevelopment of the cloud forest.

Producing great coffee takes time, effort, and passion, and Tiny Footprint Coffee is no exception. The company sources the finest, sustainably-grown Arabica coffee beans from around the world, ensuring that their beans are not only shade-grown, but also organic certified, and often fair-trade or Rain Forest Alliance certified. They also purchase coffee from small, family-owned farms that are not fair-trade eligible, yet grow some of the most beautiful, best-tasting coffees on the planet.

All of the roasting and training is done from their roastery in Minneapolis, MN, where they are working hard to make the entire roastery carbon negative. This includes using fully bio-degradable coffee bags, high-efficiency lighting, fuel-efficient ribbon burners on their roaster, composting coffee grounds, and reducing waste around the shop.

Tiny Footprint Coffee's Organic Coffee is USDA Certified Organic, Fair Trade, and Shade-Grown Arabica. The flavor profile is sultry and bold, with dark roast tones and notes of chocolate, craft-roasted to leave traditional Nicaraguan flavors of bright apricot, fig, and spice.

The coffee is sourced from PRODECOOP, a Fair Trade and Single Origin cooperative, which uses its proceeds to bring improved living standards to its growing membership and fund programs in medical care, education, and environmental sustainability.

Tiny Footprint Coffee is small-batch roasted in their vintage 90 kilo German-built Probat drum roaster, retrofitted with modern fuel-efficient ribbon burners, ensuring perfectly roasted coffee every time.
